The auditions for actors trying out for the role of Keller will be held in the Gallo Center’s Foster Family Theatre at 11:00 am. Auditions for adult actors will start at 1:00 pm in the Foster theatre. All actors should bring a 1-2 minute monologue for presentation. Actors also will be asked to read from the script.
Rehearsals for the show will be scheduled from mid-September through November. Performance dates are November 3-6. Performances will include public shows and morning school performances. Heike Hambley will direct the play.
Immortalized on stage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, this classic tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller. Trapped in a silent world, unable to communicate, Keller is violent and spoiled, and treated by her family as almost sub-human. Only Annie realizes that a mind and spirit are waiting to be rescued from the tortured silence.
